Τῷ νικῶντι δώσω αὐτῷ φαγεῖν ἀπὸ τοῦ μάννα τοῦ κεκρυμμένου, καὶ δώσω αὐτῷ ψῆφον λευκὴν καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν ψῆφον ὄνομα καινὸν γεγραμμένον, ὃ οὐδεὶς ἔγνω εἰ μὴ ὁ λαμβάνων, Victori dabo edere ex Manna illo abscondito: et dabo illi calculum album. et in calculo novum nomen Scriptum, quod nemo novit, nisi qui accipit. Ubi alluditur ad calculum, quem Athletis in Theatro decertantibus dari consuevisse, notat Arethas. Sed et milites, qui strenue se in bello gessissent, novô Ceoropidarum nomine honorari consuevisse, diximus supra, ubi de Militum praemiis. Etiam apud eosdem Athenienses, ut et Romanos, servi, postquam libertatem adepti; quermadmodum apud Hebraeos, qui e periculoso morbo convaluissent: novum accepêre nomen, uti videre est retro in hac voce.
